Portfolio > Bronze Sculptures

This sculpture is actually the first work that I modeled in clay in 2007 but the casting was not done until 2010 so it was actually created before the economic meltdown. The inspiration for the piece came from looking at how the impoverished nations of the world fit into the global economy. This is a subject that has many aspects to explore but in many cases they are forced to sell precious natural resources that are not easily replaced. On a larger scale it is the world economy as a whole. We are consuming our environment. In this case the sad figure is carrying elephant tusks. They are not easily replaceable and will be sold as a luxury.
