Snydersculpture.com - Bronze and Steel sculpture by Steve Snyder

The majority of my work is about the emotions we feel. Each piece may be personally inspired or it may have originated from observing others. The emotion of each piece is captured in the body language. The anonymous, thin, and extended figures are merely a physical representation of the temporary condition of the soul. They are our fears, our joys, and or pain. They are the person inside.

By keeping the figure anonymous I hope to allow each viewer to see themselves in the sculpture and connect with it, feel it’s emotion and spark internal dialog. I believe that all art has to do with God by either reflecting God’s presence or His absence. If my work can spark internal dialog or self examination it might also help one consider the deeper meaning at the root of the emotion.

Just as our emotions manifest themselves physically, each work carries it’s own thoughts and ideas from its emotional root to a physical action or condition. Therefore each piece may be examined as an emotion, explored as a physical condition, or simply admired.

I believe that once a sculpture is created it takes on a life of its own. I will explain my inspiration but the interpretation of each piece belongs to the viewer. I am amazed by the various insights and the range of emotions that people gather as they view my work.
